Luckily my relatives in India found the employer and handed him over to police, and I was freed.”According to him, there are many Nepalis languishing in Indian jails for similar reasons. “At that time, four other Nepalis were serving jail terms for allegedly being involved in gold smuggling. Police recovered 4 kg of gold from them. I was supposed to deliver the package in Kakarbhitta. But only when the police in Bagdogra [in India’s West Bengal state] opened the package that I realized that I had been used for smuggling gold,” he said requesting to be unnamaed.
