Dahal’s son Prakash on behalf of Dahal telephoned Inspector General of Police Upendra Kanta Aryal today and requested him to release Khatri, a source said.
“The Prime Minister-elect asked for the release of Khatri saying it is injustice to arrest anyone just for organising peaceful protest in a democracy. I requested the IGP in that line,” Prakash said. In response, police said that Khatri would be released today.
Khatri was arrested for marching and chanting slogan against Dahal in a semi-nude state at a programme organised by the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) in Maitighar Mandala to celebrate the election of Dahal as PM.
